  • 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 3/4 cups (345 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (226 g) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup (150 g) light brown sugar, packed
  • 2/3 cup (130 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 egg, plus 1 egg yolk, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. For the brownie dough: Mix butter and sugars until fluffy, then add egg and vanilla. Combine dry ingredients and fold in chocolate chips.
  3. For the cookie dough: Cream cold butter with sugars, mix in eggs and vanilla, then gradually add dry ingredients and fold in chocolate chips.
  4. Scoop both dough types into balls, combining one of each together before placing them on the baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 8-9 minutes until edges are set but centers are slightly underbaked. Cool before serving.
