  • 2 lb chicken breast
  • 1 lb mushrooms
  • 1 onion
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon thyme

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces and prepare the vegetables.
  2. In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook until browned (about 6-8 minutes). Transfer to a baking dish.
  3. In the same skillet, melt the remaining butter and sauté onions, garlic, and mushrooms with salt and pepper until softened (8-10 minutes).
  4. Stir in flour, then gradually add chicken broth and cream. Simmer until thickened (3-5 minutes) before adding thyme.
  5. Pour sauce over chicken in the baking dish, top with cheese and breadcrumbs.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
