  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 medium onion, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar (as Worcestershire sauce substitute)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 cup chicken stock

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated onion, minced garlic, smoked paprika, dried sage, egg, apple cider vinegar, salt, and pepper until just combined. Form into 16 meatballs.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Brown meatballs for about 6 minutes on all sides; set aside.
  3. Boil cubed sweet potatoes in salted water until fork-tender (about 12-15 minutes). Drain and mash with butter and cream; season with cinnamon and nutmeg.
  4. In the same skillet, add chicken stock and maple syrup to deglaze. Return meatballs to the pan and simmer until cooked through (8-10 minutes).
  5. Serve meatballs over sweet potato mash and drizzle with sauce.
