Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound sirloin or NY strip steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 8 ounces white mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 zucchini, cut into 1/2-inch sticks
  • 2 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Sesame seeds
  • Sliced green onions

Instructions

  1. Season the steak pieces with salt and pepper. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the steak and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until browned. Remove the pieces from the pan and set aside.
  2. Add the remaining vegetable oil and 1 teaspoon of sesame oil to the same pan. Add sliced mushrooms and onions. Sauté for 4-5 minutes until softened. Add zucchini and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  3. Push the vegetables to one side of the pan. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter, then add minced garlic. Sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. In a small bowl, combine soy sauce and honey. Mix well. Pour this sauce into the pan with the vegetables.
  5. Return the cooked steak to the pan. Stir everything together and let it simmer for 1-2 minutes until slightly thickened. Add remaining butter and stir until melted.
  6. Remove from heat and garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Serve hot.
