- ¼ cup powdered sugar for glaze
- 1 teaspoon maple syrup for glaze
- 2–3 teaspoons milk for glaze
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar; let sit until frothy (5–10 minutes).
- In another bowl, whisk together warm milk, melted butter, granulated sugar, spices, salt, and vanilla.
- Add frothy yeast mixture to the wet ingredients; gradually stir in flour until a soft dough forms.
- Knead on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth.
- Place dough in a greased bowl; cover and let rise in a warm area until doubled (about 1 hour).
- Punch down dough; fold in raisins and divide into 12 pieces. Shape into buns and place on a lined baking sheet.
- Cover buns again to rise until doubled (about 30 minutes). Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Prepare glaze by mixing flour with water; pipe crosses on buns before baking for about 22 minutes until golden brown.
