Ingredients

  • Up to 10 large apples (washed and dried)
  • Up to 10 candy apple sticks (skewers or chopsticks)
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups corn syrup
  • 3/4 cup water
  • Several drops food coloring
  • 1 Tbsp flavoring extract or 1 tsp flavor oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare a cookie sheet by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
  2. Remove stems and stickers from apples; insert sticks halfway down into each apple.
  3. In a heavy saucepan, combine granulated sugar, corn syrup, and water. Stir over medium heat until boiling; attach a candy thermometer.
  4. Boil the mixture until it reaches 310°F. Remove from heat and stir in food coloring and flavoring extract or oil.
  5. Dip each apple into the hot mixture, coating it fully before allowing excess to drip back into the pan. Place on the prepared cookie sheet.
  6. Allow the candy coating to cool completely before enjoying.
