  • 10 ounces fresh strawberries (divided)
  • 34 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • Optional: lemon zest, lemon juice, vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Hull and chop 6 ounces of strawberries and mash them in a bowl until crushed. Mix in sugar and optional lemon zest/juice.
  2. Transfer the mixture to a small pot over medium-low heat and simmer for 2-5 minutes until thickened into syrup.
  3. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla if desired, and let cool before refrigerating.
  4. Hull and finely dice the remaining strawberries. In two glasses, divide the cooled syrup, add diced strawberries, and pour in cold milk. Stir well before serving.
