  • 1 head green cabbage (9001100 g)
  • 3 tbsps olive oil
  • 2 tbsps butter
  • ½ cup finely diced red onion
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
  • 4 oz full-fat cream cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup sun-dried tomatoes in oil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano leaves
  • 1 tsp dried thyme leaves
  • ½ tsp dried rosemary leaves
  • 1 tsp table salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish
  • Extra Parmesan for serving to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cut the cabbage into 8 wedges while keeping the core intact.
  3. In a cast-iron skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear each wedge until golden (about 2–3 minutes per side).
  4. Add butter, onion, and garlic; cook until softened (about 2 minutes).
  5. Deglaze the skillet with chicken broth. Stir in cream cheese and whisk until smooth.
  6. Mix in heavy cream, sun-dried tomatoes, herbs, salt, pepper, and optional red pepper flakes; simmer for 2–3 minutes.
  7. Stir in grated Parmesan until melted.
  8. Nestle cabbage wedges into the sauce, cover with foil, and bake for 45 minutes.
  9. Uncover, baste with sauce, and bake for an additional 15–20 minutes until tender.
  10. Let rest before serving; garnish with parsley and extra Parmesan.
