Description

Philly Cheesesteak Meatloaf is a delightful fusion of two comfort food favorites, bringing together the robust flavors of a classic cheesesteak and the hearty goodness of meatloaf. This dish features tender ground beef combined with sautéed peppers and onions and is generously layered with gooey provolone cheese. Perfect for family dinners or gatherings, this meatloaf will become a go-to recipe that leaves everyone asking for seconds.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 8 slices provolone cheese (4 for filling, 4 for topping)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté the diced green bell pepper and onion for about 5 minutes until softened. Set aside to cool.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly.
  4. In a loaf pan, press half of the meat mixture evenly on the bottom.
  5. Layer with 4 slices of provolone cheese followed by the sautéed peppers and onions.
  6. Top with the remaining meat mixture and gently press down.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes. Add the remaining cheese on top during the last 5 minutes until melted.
  8. Let rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
