- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- ½ cup milk
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 8 slices provolone cheese (4 for filling, 4 for topping)
- Fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté the diced green bell pepper and onion for about 5 minutes until softened. Set aside to cool.
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly.
- In a loaf pan, press half of the meat mixture evenly on the bottom.
- Layer with 4 slices of provolone cheese followed by the sautéed peppers and onions.
- Top with the remaining meat mixture and gently press down.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes. Add the remaining cheese on top during the last 5 minutes until melted.
- Let rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
