- 480 ml water (for syrup)
- 350 grams granulated sugar (for syrup)
- 15 ml lemon juice (for syrup)
- Optional: blanched almonds or extra orange zest for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F) and grease a round cake pan.
- In a mixing bowl, combine semolina, sugar, baking powder, and orange zest.
- Stir in yogurt, melted ghee, and vanilla until you have a thick batter.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Score the surface into diamond shapes and add toppings.
- Bake for 30–40 minutes until golden brown; check with a toothpick.
- While baking, prepare syrup by heating water, sugar, and lemon juice until dissolved.
- Simmer for about 10 minutes; then stir in orange juice.
- Pour warm syrup over the baked cake immediately after removing from oven.
- Allow to cool completely before serving.
