Description

Sticky Sesame Cauliflower is a delicious and healthy dish that combines the crispy goodness of roasted cauliflower with a glossy sweet-and-spicy sesame sauce. Perfect as an appetizer, side dish, or even a satisfying main course, this recipe is not only easy to prepare but also packed with flavor. The crunch of the cauliflower, enhanced by a light cornstarch coating, pairs beautifully with the rich and savory sauce. Whether you’re entertaining guests or simply enjoying a cozy night in, this dish will impress everyone at the table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 medium head cauliflower
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • ¼ cup gluten-free tamari
  • 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • Fresh ginger
  • Sesame seeds for garnish
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch for thickening
  • 2 tbsp water for thickening

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and water until smooth. Toss cauliflower florets in this mixture until well coated.
  3. Spread the coated florets on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 30–35 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  4. Meanwhile, prepare the sauce by whisking tamari, honey (or maple syrup), rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, red pepper flakes (if using), cornstarch, and water in a saucepan over medium heat until thickened.
  5. Once baked, toss the cauliflower in the warm sauce until evenly coated. Serve garnished with sesame seeds.
