  • 2 cups sliced carrots
  • 2 cups sliced sweet potatoes
  • 2 cups diced apple
  • 2 lbs ground lean turkey
  • 3 Tbs tomato paste
  • 3 cups crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can kidney beans (optional)
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp salt (divided)
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 1/2 tsp rubbed sage (divided)
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • a sprinkle nutmeg
  • 2 tsp chili powder

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Sauté sliced carrots, sweet potatoes, and diced apples along with onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, sage, cinnamon, and nutmeg for about 5 minutes.
  3. Add ground turkey to the pot and cook until browned (approximately 5–7 minutes).
  4. Stir in tomato paste and chili powder; mix well.
  5. Incorporate crushed tomatoes and strained tomatoes; stir until combined.
  6. Lower heat and let simmer for 20–30 minutes. If using kidney beans, add them during the last few minutes.
