  • 200g sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 120g unsalted butter, softened
  • Juice and zest from 2 large oranges
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 100ml whole milk
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon orange blossom water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3–5 minutes.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in orange zest, juice, and vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually fold this into the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Stir in whole milk and optional orange blossom water until smooth.
  6. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack; drizzle with glaze made from powdered sugar mixed with orange juice.
